Growing pains

I felt a change in the air, Hidden in the spaces between us, & before I could grasp what was going on, You were already gone. I felt a change growing in my left palm, First a gnawing, itchy, restless kind of feeling. The feeling only grew & b egan to crawl up my arm,  Violently, it pierced me straight through my heart. Looking for a quiet place to fall,  I look down, Extending out of my chest, a branch. More branches grew & they grew & even more grew, Stretching towards the sky defiantly. As if trying to touch the heavens. Leaves began to form, then the flowers & then the fruit.  The birds & the bees love me during the spring, until come fall. My branches becoming bare & not too soon after, My new-found company also gone. During the winter frost my trunk is a kind, w arm place f or critters. Butterflies migrate every year to lay their eggs on my leaves, Everywhere there are ants working endlessly together, Once in a while a pass byer will sit u...

From kitchen to garden

02/25/25 Let's talk table scraps;   Personally, the easiest way to start growing anything is by regrowing the table scraps right from my kitchen. The ends of an onion, left over garlic that started sprouting that little tiny green stem at the tip, or tomato seeds from slices of tomato from today's lunch. Even the ugly parts of a potato I cut off, because I didn't like how it looked, as long as that part of the potato has the 'eye.' The eye of the potato are axillary or nodes that are the growing points of a new potato. There are so many other produce I can list just by looking in my fridge alone. If you're ever curious about a certain fruit or vegetable that's lying around in your kitchen, pause for a moment and ask yourself " Is this trash? Or is this the start, (or new addition), to a garden?" A quick google search and you'll most likely have your answer. I have a story that personally inspired me to start gardening again.
